Desktop Wallpaper problem

XP Pro.

I recently had to have Windows reinstalled.
I have just noticed that all of the photos which I have put into 'My Pictures' have also gone into the Desktop Background section of 'Display Properties'.

Can anyone please tell me how I can stop them doing this - and how to get rid of the ones which have already gone in there.
There are a lot of them!!!!!

Oh, if anyone can help, I would be grateful for plain English please.

Hmm, I'll have to do some internet searching on this, but just so you don't drive yourself crazy. I wouldn't worry too big about it, it's not wasteing space, it just showing the picture in two different spots, kind of like a short cut.

XP's Desktop Background list includes all the pictures stored in the My Pictures folder. It's easier to move pictures than it is to try to make Display Properties look elsewhere for its list (if that's even possible!).

The simplest thing to do is, first, create a new subfolder of the main My Documents folder. You can name it anything you like so long as it's not the same as another folder already in My Documents. I named the one I made simply "Pictures" (without the quotes).

Once you have a folder ready for them, move all the pictures you don't want on the Background list out of the My Pictures folder into the new folder you made.

Thank you both so much.
I shall do that, Miz.

I had thought that it would probably just be a case of removing a tick from a box somewhere!!!!

Oh, just had a thought - I have Photoshop Elements installed. I can put my pictures straight into there, and that should get rid of my problem - I think.

Crumbs - I will make a techie out of me yet.
