Disguising my true location while in a hotspot

Hello everyone!

I didn't know where to post this question.

I work for a non-governmental company that doesn't like its employees to do any work online while in a foreign country, even Canada. I wanted to go to Montreal for a few days or a week, but while I'm there, I wanted to get caught up on some work. This begs the problem: There is no way to disclose my location on my laptop when I am connected to their system; in other words, will it be automatically known I'm in Canada with the local hotspot I'm on (even on rented Mifi from US, etc)? I suppose the answer is yes. I can't make it look like I'm in upstate NY? LOL. I am really stupid about things like this.

Thank you for your help.

The simple answer is to obey the company rules.

However it is possible to use a proxy server located in the place where you wish to appear to be for ordinary internet browsing, however assuming that you wish to connect to company drives, probably via a VPN on your laptop, afraid that is not going to work.

You work for them, they set the rules, so to keep your job comply with these rules.

Hi Neddie,
I did not realise that the pre edited text showed up in the emails vis a vis "haven't you heard that hot car doing wheel spins and doughnuts on the road outside here each weekend?"
I may have to be a bit more careful with my edits..
I DO know where you are....

I just found out the way...LOL. Where was my head all this time?

It's against the rules to work in an internet cafe, too, or hotel lobby for the company - and all my friends do it anyways. It's not top secret work or anything...
