Conficker.c worm on April 1
Is there any way to tell if this worm is on the computer?
I've got my updates done and have Trends AV, avg and spybot Have I done enough to protect my computer? Would unplugging the computer and cables for a couple of days do any good ? Thanks alanis |

Hi alanis. No it wouldnt. April 1st acts as a tripwire on machines that are already infected. The next stage of the worm is activated on that day and will go into effect on any day after that should the computer be shut down. Changing the computer date wont help either. It obtains the correct date from online servers.
As long as your operating system is fully patched and your antivirus software is updated you should be fine. See here and also read this advisory from Sunbelt. |
