Exclamation Internet Speed

HI, all. I just need someone to answer me this question that i have about my internet speed. My subscriber company said that i have 514KB of internet connection, and when I download a file it only goes up to 64KB max.
Why is that? Or what can I do to max does downloads. I'm using a Motorola SURFboard SB5100 USB Cable Modem.

Download speed may vary, but what most likely confuses you here is KB/s vs. kbps.
Your ISP probably lists its speed in kbps, and download speed is normally listed in KB/s.
1 KB/s = 8.192 kbps...
...so 64KB/s x 8.192 = 524kbps
