Syn Flood
My ZyWall35 router log shows a "Syn Flood" blocked from an ip inside my network directed toward an outside address. It lasts for about 1 minute and attempts to send to various ports at one ip address. I get this about once a week or so from different ip's within my network. Virus scans show nothing. Spyware scans delete the same ol' stuff. What should I be looking for?

Howdy cmwood,
Almost have a Networking forum question here. There is no set generic infection protocol checklist to provide. Most obvious question would be what IP address is being targeted here? Also what you mean by your network - this is a business setup, where the server or each node is suspect? The second question would be more to determine if there is some source infection location (assuming this is infection and not a misread of the intent of what that log shows). |
