Windows Vista Problem solving for the Windows Vista Operating System. Please remember to state which edition of Vista you are using - Home Basic, Home Premium, Business, Ultimate etc. and whether you are using the 32-bit or 64-bit version if you know. |

Cannot move beyond home page
Hi. I have been using Windows Vista home basic 32 bit and Microsoft office for years. This is a new problem. Usually when I leave the computer for an hour or so it goes into sleep mode and when I return and press any key it starts up again. Now it only brings up my home page and I cannot progress because no cursor appears.
Any help would be appreciated. John |

Does anything happen if you press say [Ctrl][Esc], or [Ctrl][Alt][Del]?

Dear Spyware Dr.
Apologies for the delay in replying but I have been away from home. Neither contr+alt+delete or esc. solves the problem. Today I left the computer for about four hours. When I returned and pressed a key, to my surprise my home page came up and I thought problem solved but the cursor wouldn't move and while I waited the home page disappeared to be replaced with the moving Windows logo which I cannot get past. I have to switch computer off and re-boot every time. |

Try booting Windows Vista up in Safe mode and then use System Restore to roll back Windows to a point in time when everything was working correctly.
If that doesn't help, try restoring an earlier system image or backup. |
