modem speed
Hello, confused about modem speed setting,I
have a 56k standard modem what should I set my modem speed too,57600 or 115200.ther are different opinons on this setting,I have dial up connection.windows 98,300,processor,64 acess memory.what your suggestion. cajunman ![]() |

Been years since I've had a modem, but I remember setting it to 115,200. On a 56 v.90, used to connect at about 42 - 43.5.

Have seen differing opinions on this, but you aren't hurting anything by putting it at the highest setting. It just assures you are getting the maximum performance from the modem. There are a rare few that won't operate correctly when at those settings, but I believe they put all those modems in Packard Bells and sold them to the Iraqis.
