Modem Speed Question
Hi
I am currently using TuneUp Utilities 2204 to tune up my laptop and not too sure what modem speed to enter when optomizing internet connections. Connection at the moment is via ADSL (location Gran Canaria - Spain) not networked and my local area connection speed always shows 100.0 Mbps. What would that equate to in Kbit? The Options displayed are: Modem - (56Kbit or less) ISDN (64 Kbit) ISDN, 2 Channels (128 Kbit) DSL, cable or satelite (up to 512Kbit) .............................(512kbit or higher) .............................(1.2Mbit or higher) .............................(2Mbit or higher) Fixed connections (10 Mbit or higher) Local Network (10 Mbit or higher) Wireless network (10 Mbit or higher) Any help much appreciated. thanks |

It depends on your service provider. DSL can have a maximum download speed of up to 6Mbits. Most ISP's in the US give you 1.5Mbits though some only give 512Kbits.
I'd just pick 1.2Mbit and go with that. Cheers |
