Won't recognize Segate Portable Drive
I am running windows me. I have purchased a segate expansion portable drive. When i plug in the drive usb cable, windows recognizes the portable drive....and the segate portable drive is also recognized in device manager, saying that it is functioning properly, but explorer does not show this external drive.... Does anyone have any advice as to how i can get my computer to recognize this drive?
thanks, Herbie |

Most new external drives will need to be partitioned and formatted. Did you use the disk that came with it to install???

No disk came with the segate external drive.....Your computer is supposed to recognize it as soon as you plug it in....My computer running windows xp did, but my computer with windows me did not... I believe it has something to do with the fact that windows xp uses the NTSF file system while windows me uses FAT.
