Laptop wakes from sleep after ~2 minutes
My new HP Pavilion laptop (Vista Ultimate 6.0.6000 Build 6000) is experiencing insomnia. I can put it to sleep but it will repeatedly wake up after 1-2 minutes. I've already disabled all hardware that could wake it up (mouse, usb port, keyboard, NIC) but it doesn't matter. Eventvwr shows the event "Power-Troubleshooter" but does not identify why the system woke up (below).
Are others experiencing this problem? I'd rather not have to power down every time. Thanks Ken Log Name: System Source: Microsoft-Windows-Power-Troubleshooter Date: 5/1/2007 8:11:24 AM Event ID: 1 Task Category: None Level: Information Keywords: User: LOCAL SERVICE Computer: XXXXX Description: The system has resumed from sleep. Yes, i did that. I individually went through every device in device manager specifically looking for power options and ensured that none are set to wakeup the laptop. I'm stuck... i cannot put this laptop to sleep for more than 2 minutes. A recent addition to the PC was PCTools firewall and spyware protection. An application cannot wake the PC up, can it??

Latest BIOS and Video Drivers may resolve.

Thanks Murf. I downloaded and installed the latest video driver and modified the registry per the USBBIOSx Microsoft guidance. There was no BIOS update from HP. Yes, all hardware (i've checked twice) is configured to NOT wake up the system. Unfortunately, the laptop is still waking up from standby within 2 minutes.
Renegade600, thanks for the response too. If the NIC is setup to NOT wake up the system, how can the application (by accessing the internet) cause the system to wakeup from standby? Have you seen this and where can I confirm that this is what's happening? (The eventviewer is not showing why the system is waking up). |
