XP WONT ask me for a password when I logon!?
Hi,
Im trying to get windows XP to ask for a password when I boot up. Ive been to the Users panel, set a password, clicked both check boxes (use welcome screen and use fast user switching) and when I reboot it doenst ask me for a password!? Ive tried adding new users, guest aco****s, deleting accounts, unchecking boxes. I basically want my one account (adminstrator account) on this computer and for it to ask for my password when I log on. Any ideas why this is happening? Also - I know this is a slightly different question - How can I password protect certain folders on my computer (and external, portable harddrive)? Would I need a seperate program to do this? Thanks. |

Go to start/run and type control userpasswords2 in the box
and click OK. Check the box-require users to enter a password. Click apply/OK. Go back to user management and set your password. |

As far as I know, you will need a separate program to lock folders, folders under "my documents" are automatically private if there is a password on that account
You can try searching google and download.com for that Last edited by gimpy530; April 8th, 2007 at 04:07 PM. |
