recovery disks?
I bought a second hand xp pro computer which works lovely, he gave me a product key and said that I can somehow with it download the recovery disks for it if it ever goes wrong?

I doubt that but some computers have the recovery install in a separate folder or partition, for which their website gives instructions on using. What brand is the computer?

There is no legal way to download recovery disks.

Buy an XP disk. What is CPL? Is that the brand on the computer or something else? More info here would help us help you. If you are not sure what the computer has or what brand it is, download and install Everest from the link below. After installing, open it and go to the menu bar, and chose Report. Using the wizard, have Everest run the report, then copy and paste the info from the report back in this thread.

Buy an xp disks?!That costs loads, I bought the computer so I shouldnt have to. I shall do that tomorrow with the everest/
Yeah that is the brand CPL
He said he had a special license to be able to make the disks though

Where he has a special license to buy the disks, he should furnish you the recovery disk then. Or explain to you how you're supposed to use a disk to burn from the computer the recovery part. Otherwise you need to buy XP and they aren't that expensive, last one I bought cost me $139. That was for an OEM disk which works for one computer only and when you decide to upgrade your new computer to another new one, that xp disk goes to the new owner.

Talk to the guy who sold you the computer. He should furnish your recovery software or explanations on how to do a recovery.

then you need to get back with him and get your disks, otherwise you will have to shell out dollars for another copy of xp.
