Unhappy Cannot install SP2 Final over SP2 RC1 Slipstreamed

I recently slipstreamed my copy of Windows XP with Service Pack 2 RC1 (build 2135) and then installed it into my computer. Everything was fine until RC2 was released. I downloaded it and tried to install it. It gave me the following error message:

This Service Pack cannot be installed on top of the Windows XP Service Pack 2 build currently installed on your computer. Cancel this installation process, uninstall your current Windows XP Service Pack 2 build, then re-install this Service Pack.
When I attempted to uninstall RC1 it dawned on me that I couldn't because I slipstreamed it into my installation. I eventually decided that I would wait until the final release and try again. I did just that and got the same error message. I would like to know what my options are, if any, to get Windows XP up and running with Service Pack 2 final installed without losing all my settings and what-not. Thanks in advance for any feedback offered.

Do you think that Slipstreaming the final version with a fresh copy of XP, booting from the resulting cd, and choosing repair would work? Also, if I exported the whole registry in my current built, could I safely import it into the final build or are there registry changes that I shouldn't tamper with?

So far i have had to uninstall RC1 on 3 machines in order to install SP2 final. So you may need to slipstream it again. Most likely you won't have any problems.
