It's BBQ season

The weather is getting better and it's been a great weekend and we had the first BBQ of the year.

Simple this time with just steaks being cooked but usually I like a variety.

What's your favourite food for the BBQ?

In the smoker the husband just bought, I like, in this order, pork shoulder, spareribs, whole chicken. He, being a Kansas male, prefers beef of any sort but in the smoker, brisket.

I guess I'll have to learn how to use the smoker.

A smoker as well. That sounds like the proper stuff that I only get to see on tv

I had one for a few weeks. Borrowed it off a supplier a couple of years ago to try it out. Worked really well but I'm not a fan of smoked stuff.

I got some monster steaks for the bbq. Well, i'd call them monster but they're probably teeny to US standards

Here are the steaks on the bbq.

Unfortunately after that it was a bit hectic so I didn't manage to get pics of the cooked steaks.

Morningstar Farms Veggie Burgers, but nearly raw. Ripping my teeth into some still dripping soy brings out the Neanderthal in me.

slow cooked short-ribs are my fav. Don't make them often, but love it when I get the chance. I take the leftovers (if any) and make a chile.
