firefox replacing IE6 for windows 98

I was thinking of trying to use Mozilla firefox instead of IE6. When I go to the download page it says windows 98 can support it but when I hit the download button the next page says the requirements are windows XP and 90 isn't mentioned. Whats up with that? Must I uninstall IE6? Also , if I can download it will it interfere with my Windows media functioning or other downloads I have. In other words will everything else remain the same including the free AVG anti=virus I've been using( by the way the AVG slows up my booting up but I still boot up in less than a minute or app. that long). thank you

you do not have to uninstall msie, you do not have to worry about problems with antivirus. You can run Firefox 2 with win98

explorer icon still in task bar

I got the firefox installed but didn't see how to reach my favorites. The explorer icon is still in the task bar and when I clicked it the favorites showed up again in a tool bar just as it was when I had the IE6 browser. By clicking on the explorer icon does that take me back to IE6. Also should I have a firefox icon in the task bar? if so how do I get it there and when I click it should I see a favorites button to click? thank you I'll work on it awhile while I wait for someone to respond to this question.

I was wrong, there is an icon in task bar

This is rhodeye again.I looked again and I do see a firefox icon in the taskbar but when I click it I don't see a way to get to my favorites. Also it seems that the pictures are coming in much cleaner looking. I'm very happy with that. I still would like to know if pressing the explorer icon takes me back to the IE6 browser. Thanks

To import your Favorites (which Firefox calls Bookmarks), in Firefox go to File>Import. Step through the wizard to get the IE Favorites list into Firefox's Bookmarks list.

imported favorites out of order

I have very many favorites which I imported from IE6 to firefox but after importing them they are all out of order and they are not in alphabetical order either. It will take me a long time to put them back the way they were. Is there a way to get this done automatically?

did what you said but...

did what you said but still couldn't get the favorites back to the order I had them in in IE6. When I click on the explorer icon then click favorites they are still in the order I had them in. Maybe I'll just have to take the time one by one to get them back in the order I want them. Thanks for your time.

Did you try right-clicking in your favorites folder (all files showing) and select sort?
