WE DID IT.
NZ is now Covid-19 free and we can now mix and mingle how so ever. sports, games, pubs and dancing are all OK again plus we may be able to open the borders for "clean" countries

Queensland has been free of new cases up till yesterday, when a fruit picker who flew in a couple of days before was discovered to have the disease. Trouble is he has mingled with many people and flown on two planes full of people who are now all over the state. Someone forgot to test him before he got here. The whole thing could now blow up. The contact tracers are hard at work.

That is a total bummer Ned. Just as our PM's are in discussion about opening borders to our neighbours. Hope the contact tracers get the spread locked down soon.

So far all is well.

All workers on a Queensland farm who were exposed to a fruit-picker who travelled from Victoria while infected with COVID-19 have tested negative to the virus.
More than 230 people were tested, including at a pop-up clinic at the farmworker's accommodation in Bundaberg, after the man was found to be sick.
Health Minister Steven Miles announced all 147 workers have returned negative tests.
His office has not confirmed whether all the other remaining test results have come back.
The 24-year-old man flew from Melbourne to Brisbane last week, where he socialised with friends and family, before flying to Bundaberg, checking into shared accommodation and working a shift at a strawberry farm.
Authorities will conduct a round of follow-up tests later this week.
Dr Miles thanked everyone for co-operating with the rapid health response, and said the sick man is doing well in isolation.
Queensland's statewide tally remains at 1062 on Wednesday morning, with just three active cases across the state

Sadly we imported two new cases after being free of them for 24days. The two returning residents were given an exemption from isolation to attend a funeral 500 kilometres away with out being the mandatory testing at the point of entry.
Contact tracing is in full swing to limit the damage done by a lax official.

In the US state where I live covid-19 cases are on the increase, and restaurants and bars are fully open, But around us already some of them have closed because of staff getting infected. I wear a mask when I go to stores, and now is surely not the time to hit a bar without wearing one, and no one there will be wearing one..

Unfortunately there is a misconception regarding wearing masks. Wearing a mask is most effective in preventing you passing on the virus if you have it, however it is relatively ineffective in preventing you from catching the virus from someone else.

Might be better to plan your trip to the store to a time when very few people are about. Wash your hands frequently and refrain from touching your face.

Good news is you can't catch it easily from surfaces as was originally (and is still being) reported.

After twenty plus days of zero cases. Hopefully locked away in quarantine centres.
It is quite disappointing to have the re-emergence of the virus but probably and insignificant number when viewing the worldwide picture.

I just saw a news report that there maybe more than twenty million cases of the virus in the states.
If true this is a significant proportion of the population..

Yes. Apparently the US is one of the worst. News here is reporting another possible 300K+ deaths this year 9If I remember that correctly). basically.. news is all reporting that tis' going to get/stay pretty bad.
