You might want to go here to make sure you downloaded the right files for your copy of Windows 7.
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/vir.../download.aspx If that's not the problem then hopefully somebody else will come along to help you. |

Did you run the tool on that page to check that your PC hardware works with Windows XP Mode?

Yes and it tested out compatible for XP mode.

Just to clarify, Windows XP Mode installs ok and it is Windows Virtual PC that you are having problems installing?

Hi again merc908. I hadnt come across this issue before however I found this topic on the Technet Forums.
It seems there are various different reasons why this might happen ranging from registry corruption to hardware problems. Unless someone else here has any further ideas, I think it would be a good idea for you to take this problem to the Experts in Virtualization on the Technet Board. We would appreciate an update though when you get the issue sorted out. |

Just an update on my problem which is somewhat resolved now. Over at TechNet they had me try a few things but it did not work so someone informed me about VMLITE which is a free download and has more functionality than the one provided directly from Microsoft. I have it installed and running flawlessly. Thanks again for your help AnnMarie.
