Question serial cable file transfer

This shouldnt be rocket surgery...............so why cant i get the transfer wizard to detect port locations? I checked the communications box in set up.
I am trying to get some files from a win98 comp to an xp, but nothing i do works. I even tried another comp i had to see if it would autodetect it............nuthin' any help would be great. I am not great with computers but I'm sure this "should" be an easy task. thank you very much.

hi matchek

in the past i have had nitemares with serial transfers too,
PC's dont like communicating much that way.

idealy you want to link them via USB and a hub or easier would be
an external drive like a pen drive or memory card and reader or a similar solution.

sorry i cant be much help on the serial front.
