Angry computer restarts automatically

ok my computer is running windows 2000 professional. i have a compaq presario 5000 series. my computer just randomly restarts by itself. how can i fix this?

Hoo boy...that's a broad topic. Lots of things can cause it to randomly restart.

Your computer could be overheating for one. Try taking the case off and letting it air out. I also recommend is checking your RAM. Get you a program like Memtest86 and let that run overnight. After that, you could try checking your other hardware, taking everything but the basics out and then plugging them back in one at a time. Something could be faulty and cause restarts. It could also be your PSU or even your powerstrip if you're using one.

How old is your computer? It might just be old and 'dying'.
