Internet Sharing Configuration Popup

Hello all I'm having a problem that I was hoping someone might could help me with.

I keep getting this pop up message over and over from my computer...its titled Internet Sharing Configuration and it says: "C:\WINNT\system32\spoolsv.exe is attempting to change or view this computer's Internet Connection Protection settings. To give C:\WINNT\system32\spoolsv.exe permission to edit these settings for as long as the program is open, click yes."

It doesn't stop if I check "yes" or "no," and clicking the "do not show this dialog again" has no effect either.

I have been having this problem since installing a new HP printer to my network.

I have WinXP with the SP1 and a wireless network.

Anyone shed some light on my problem? Thanks so much!

Hi Shaelynn, spoolsv.exe is the print spool service, it is a common service and should be there. However it can be manipulated and used as a backdoor for viruses etc. Have you got an antivirus installed on the machine? If so, make sure it is up to date and run a full system scan and let me know what it comes up with

The file path the message is referring to for spoolsv.exe is correct and not malware related.
Do you have print and file sharing enabled or disabled on your computer?

Try disabling it if your not going to use it.

I missed this in your post that your only using SP1. Getting SP2 might help this as well. Lots of bugs fixed in SP2.

Upgrading to SP2, and uninstalling and reinstalling printer seemed to have worked. Thanks a ton!
