Computer in serious problem

Hi there,
I'v a sony vios notebook running on windows Xp service pack 1......My problem is i cant start exprorer.exe and none of my virus scanning program work....When it start, the computer goes to restart mode......I tried to star windows in safe mode but only a black screen appiers.......When i try seeking help on this topic on the internet, my computer restarts again.....What could be the possible problem and how do i overcome it??????

When did this problem start, did you add any hardware or software recently, do you get any errors or blue screens of death?

Start it up and if you think it's about to shutdown, hit start - run - type "shutdown -a"

You can try doing a ctrl+alt+del to bring up task manager. Then go to file>New task> type explorer.exe. Hopefully this will bring everything back to normal.

You should also think about installing SP2 for extra security.

I'l try ur method when i get the chance to do it........Gimpy530 yeah i think some one did install new software into, i'l try uninstalling it........Thanks alot ones again, i'l let u'l know of the out come
