Vista Port Problems with Outlook 2003 and Aim 6.5
Hi,
I am having trouble with aim with vista, when I attempt to sign in I get the error message "Settings error before sign in". With outlook I can send email but not receive email. All settings and port numbers are correct. Any advice/help would be apreciated. Thanks.

Hi hp07jml. I dont think the two issues are connected. Regarding AIM, see below explanation from this site.

Settings Error Before Sign In [UPDATED!]

If your My Documents Folder is on another hard drive on Windows Vista or Windows XP, Aim 6.1 and Aim 6.5 will show the error message: “Settings Error Before Sign in” Change your My Documents folder so that it is stored on your C:\ Drive. You should also Uncheck the option to remember your password at Sign On, and type your password manually.

Thanks but I have already done both of these things, my documents folder is in the normal spot on Vista in my c drive.

Have you tried to create a new user on AIM to see if that profile works?
