Can't stay connected?

I have IE5.5, WIN2000, SupraMax modem, and MSN ISP. My problem is that I can connect but only for 1-2 minutes. I am then "knocked off". I can not connect again(modem keeps ringing/makes noise that it doesn't make when I 1st sign on), also my PC sound is gone! I can only conect and retain PC sound bt re-booting my PC. Whats the prob? WIN2000? Modem? Soundcard? MSN? Can you help?

What kind of response is that? I'm looking for help staying connected. I have posted in all fourms to get an answer. All I get is "threading" & "posts" issues? While I appreciate the help I've gotten here in the past I fail to understand the "useless" chatter among the moderators within my posts. Either answer my problem requests or simply move on to the next one. I don't want to waste your time or mine with issues other then answers to my PC problem. Why add to my frustrations? Thank you.

raceman.

Every moderator here, as well as many excellently qualified members,
want to help you. As a matter of fact we would all be very happy if
we assisted in fixing your modem issues.

What does make it harder for us is when a member scatter-posts
or multi-posts (same problem over multiple forums). It becomes
very difficult for the moderator(s)/member(s) who were already
engaged in helping you, in your original thread, to follow the
problem into other forums.

Dodge had you going in the right direction in your original thread
started
posted 30 January 2002 12:17 AM Win200 modem prob!
then there was some suggestions and you made a post
posted 30 January 2002 09:19 PM Win200 modem prob!
then you started a new thread in the same forum regarding the same prob
posted 31 January 2002 09:15 PM Can't stay connected?
then from there some time yesterday (Jan 02 2002) you started threads
in other forums regarding the same prob.
one in Hardware & Overclocking
one in Internet / Browsers
one in The Anything Else Board
and then there are the other two in Windows NT & 2000

I hope you can appreciate the task it can be, for the original moderator(s)
and member(s) who were helping you, to follow you around the forums
so they know exactly what you have been doing to the computer.

Try to look at it from the side of the person(s) helping you.
They first read your problem,
they ask a question or two,
they begin to get a mental picture of what is going on with your computer,
then you begin to get instructions from other moderators and members
and are possibly making other changes to your computer that the original
people that were helping you know nothing about. So if you return to the
original thread and say "that isn't working" then the moderator(s) or member(s)
in the original thread have no idea that the reason is because you have made
changes they know nothing about.

From your end you know everything going on because you are the one making
changes. To fix your problem you need to stay in one thread. Believe me, all
moderators will see the thread and if another moderator or member has a
suggestion they will post in your thread. There is no need to spread one
problem throughout the forums.

I'd like you also to know that each and every moderator here at Cyber Tech Help
has been where your sitting right now. We totally understand the frustration
you feel. Computers just do that and there is nothing we can do but go in and
rectify the prob.

The good thing is there is always a way to fix it. Even if it's as drastic as
formatting the hard drive, resetting the BIOS, re-installing WindowsXX,
and buying a new modem. Everyone here will walk you though any
process it takes to get you hooked up and staying on the Web.

If you want to help us do this then please stay put. One prob...one thread.
We will fix your problem this way, there are some amazing techs here.

Your original thread was in Windows NT & 2000 forum topic = Win200 modem prob!
stay in there and we will fix you.

Although we do "kibitz around" with each other all we are
doing is communicating administration issues with each
other. Nothing is meant as derogatory or disrespectful. We
all (moderators, admin(MishY), and regular technical members)
work hard at finding solutions to users problems every day. We
sometimes get just as stressed as you do and we relieve that
stress sometimes by joking around with each other.

We are only communicating the organization of the forums.
Sorry if this came across as anything directed towards you.

Please continue your presence here and we will make that
stubborn modem stand up and give you a binary salute

Raceman,

Don't take it so personal. If there wasn't a little laughter in this world we'd all be a miserable bunch. I was poking fun at ya for posting so many times in so many different forums on the same problem. I wasn't trying to make fun of you. Poking fun at someone and "making fun" of someone are two totally different things. I get poked at all the time, that's what you do to lighten up the mood, or when friends are joking around. Least that's what I thought it was for. In many cases the best time to poke fun at someone is when things are going rough. Kindda helps a person loosen up and to see that things could be a he11 of alot worse.

Like Spider was saying, you only hurt yourself by posting all over the place. Stay in one thread with one problem, so everyone knows (as well as you) what is going on.
