Question selecting * .*

ok, here is what I am attempting to accomplish (i might be on the wrong board here... please advise if so):
Main objective: move my itunes library to a new location

Somehow my itunes library has created duplicates of MANY songs. More than 1000 songs have been duplicated and I want to remove these from the library without removing the originals. These files have been added with the addition of a single space ( ) and the number one (1).
So the file Song.m4a has become song 1.m4a.
Convieniently, this should make the files simple to search for using the wildcard string "* 1.*"; however, in reality this search string returns every directory in the library and NOT a single file. I also tried the string "* 1.m4a"; resulted with the same.
Not a single file was found with this string.

Can someone help me find a solution to accomplishing my aim? I have attempted to use syncback by 2brightsparks. But could not get ALL the files to copy over.

OS: WindowsXP Pro
Using Buffalo LinkStation as new storage device.
Original storage device is a harddrive inside my machine.

Please advise,
