Upgrade from Vista Ultimate 32 bit to Windows 7 64 bit

I have Vista Ultimate in 32 bit but want to upgrade to Windows 7 in 64 bit.

What are the steps I would need to take to do this? Or would a clean install work just fine.

its going have to be a clean install. you cannot upgrade from 32 to 64 bit.
