Hi geminiboy. What exactly happens when you to install the updates? Are you getting any error messages? If so, please paste them here in full.

It is because you didn't pass windows validation.

If I'm correct, then, follow

1. Run command prompt window as administrator.
- sfc /scannow <- that will get put the version back to non-Genuine Windows

- slmgr /rearm <- Get another 30 days

2. Restart the computer.

3. Run Windows Update to install update again.

4. If Windows loses activated status, perform activation again.

That is not the correct command for Windows 7 FunaGuy and online validation checks for Windows 7 are not currently enabled. See here.

Dumb question. Can I assume that my copy on Windows 7 which came on my new computer is activated and validated if it says "Windows is activated" at the bottom of the system page in the control panel and I can download updates from the Windows update site? I'd just really hate it if I missed something I should have done and my PC turns into a boat anchor.
