fan trouble

ok im having computer troubles.
The fan in my powerbox makes a realy loud noise and it not supost to do that. Also when it is like that it heats up teh computer really fast
curetly we have the computer upside donw (can use the cd rom drive) it does not do it when i is upside down also if we hit the computer it stops for a seccond

Anyone got any ideas what so ever on what is wrong and more inportantly how to fix it

While it is upside down and you hit it, try kicking it also as this may cure all your problems.

well this is there 3rd time this happend the first and second times it just stoped but that isent workin

1st, open computer case and see if a cable is against a fan. Are you sure it's the power supply fan? If your power supply fan is going out you will need to replace it immediately as when it stops your power supply will cook off pretty fast. If you need to replace the power supply fan you will need to splice wires. Use solder and heat shrink or liquid electrical tape. Leave the power supply unpluged for a day to make sure the capacitors have discharged before opening it.

Oink this is completely untrue. Psu fans are normal case fans screwd and plugged in just the way a case fan is.

i opened one up
the plugs are different
some of em are soldered onto the pcb

haha and also try to throw it out the window

I've had my computer for 6 years now how do I know if my fan hasn't broken?

Should I clean my computer like in the inside every so often?

Yea the fan in my Compaq PSU was soldered in. But like Rich M said, it's a crappy 200W PSU that came with the compaq. The fan stopped working and i just cut the wires in the middle and connected the wires from the replacement fan.
