perhaps you should considering buying intel 2 core duo chip (that's a new pentium, right?)

back to your millions of questions
- Ghz
that is almost meaning less these days
your should look at
- the Model Numbers from that specific brand
- Benchmarks on the internet, magazines

and is Pentuim 4 good?
to day
no
Intel has released a series of Pentuim Processors over the Years, they should be much better
now Intel has released its Core 2 Duo CPUs which are better than all of its predecessors

AMD's Athlon 64/X2/FX are equal or better than many Intel CPUs
except core 2 duo

"New Pentium"? No
Intel has ditched the old Pentium name and went for the name "Core"

Ok hmm Can you get Anthlon and Intel Duo Core, in both laptops and computers?

Also how comes your RAM is only 8mb? when mine is 256

Is RAM how fast the computer goes?

you can get various athlons and intels in both desktops and laptops
are you buying a desktop or laptop?

his/her ram is 8mb because they appear to be running an old system, probably with windows 3.1 or an old distro of linux.

G=1 Billion
Hertz=A unit of frequency equal to one cycle per second.
Ghz: A 3Ghz processor carries out three billion instructions a second.
At such high speeds data cannot be retrieved from computer memory fast enough to satisfy the demands of the processor, leading to 'wasted' cycles.
The move is to "dual core" designs to improve processor performance.

AMD released the Turion CPUs for laptops
also mobile Sempron
Turion and mobile Sempron uses less power than the Athlon and normal Sempron
thus making them Ideal for Laptops

again
it is not
Quote:
Intel Duo Core
it is Intel Core Duo
the Pentium is now gone

yes, more ram would get you more speed
but
if you have only one program running, and it uses only 128Mb
running it on 512Mb or 1Gb, shouldnt have much of a speed increase
assuming the OS uses minimal RAM like 16Mb

RAM is used by your computer when you open "processes" like applications, games and other stuff.. The more you have installed the faster your computer will run, but more dependant on CPU speed i think
