Machine upgrade
Hi Guys,
I am about to get a new PC (secondhand) running win Xp. I basically want to put my existing harddrive, running win ME, in as a second drive, how do I do this!? Do I have to remove any programs etc from it, or can I just plug it in and still have access to files on it? Any help much appreciated! |

As long as you don't want to boot off it it can be done. You have to set the jumpers on the back of the HD to slave drive. The settings are usually on the HD. Then you can plug the power cable into it and the IDE cable too. Then go into the BIOS when you start the system and make sure that the HD shows up as slave in the BIOS. If it does save settings and exit BIOS. After startup click on START the on my computer. The new drive should show up beside your Harddrive.
