Firefox 2.0 bites the dust

Sad to say, the browser of my choice is going south fast. After uninstalling and reinstalling 4 times I've about had enough. Not even sure if it would be worth the effort of trying v1.5 again as this problem has been around awhile and no cure as far as I can find.

It's the XPCOM: Event Receiver bug and I have a hard time shutdown even when asking for the program to end, and takes several reboots to get the modem working again. A google search gets some suggestions but none of them work. Haven't found anyone solve this yet. IE is beginning to look better.

Anyone else having this problem...possible cure?

try uninstalling it for the fifth time, manually delete any firefox folders left on your computer. Download a fresh copy and reinstall.

No, it wasn't WindowsXP.
Firefox and the free Comodo Firewall are not compatible. I kept reading people telling those getting the "XPCOM: Event Receiver" error at shutdown that it wasn't compatible with McAfee's so I finally tried uninstalling Comodo and sure enough, that was the conflict. Funny that I tested it over a week before that without a problem and wonder if it could have been related to one of the recent Add-ons. But no matter, no Comodo, no Firefox problem.

But anyhow, sorry to get frustrated, but after so much...it happens.

both msie 7 and firefox are decent browsers. Its how it is used that causes the problems. As with anything, you gotta keep them updated for them to be safe since both have security issues at times.
