Hello, Automatic Updates is not available for Microsoft Windows 98-based computers or Microsoft Windows NT 4.0-based computers, but a Critical Update Notification utility is available from the Windows Update Web site to notify you when critical updates are available for download on these platforms. What was the critical update. Usually the critical updates are valid items. This is probably one to fix the patch for the email virus that has been going around. But then again it depends on what type of critical update you were searching for in the first, place. If you download , these are normally downloaded automaticly to your c drive program files .

THanks I don't know what the update is, it won't give that option to look at it like all the others do, that box pops up and says download install and run critical update,

Thanks!

Hey perplexed, the reason you seeing that is Microsoft has made a new tool
for users when they visit Windows Update online. The recent attacks by the Blaster
worm on the Microsoft Update site's server machines prompted Microsoft to make
a few changes over there. Amongst the changes was the new scanning tool that
everyone has to use when they visit the update site.

So you were prompted with a popup to "install" because Microsoft saw you had
the old one and that you needed to install the new one. Like Murf said..."Run it".
