Dell Latitude---screen dies

I've got a Dell Latitude C510/C610 that's been working fine up until last night. I was surfing the web and suddenly the screen started flashing lighter and darker (nothing too serious, even when it was dark I could still see the web pages, etc) when I would move the mouse and type stuff. I shut it down last night and this morning when I started it up it was very dark...I can't really see anything on it any more. I restarted it several times, same thing. Any help?

bump...

any idea what the problem is? I can actually see stuff on the screen, but only in the right half of it and it's VERY dim. the rest is pretty much black. it was fine up until last night when it started flashing darker and lighter.

The back light cathodes tubes has start to fail,
and replacing them costs almost the same as replacing it with a new monitor,
and they can be horrors to take apart to replace the tubes,
The lcd transistor film on the the clear plate only needs to be touch once with you hands,
and you kill it,
And you need to remove it to get at the back light tubes,
Replace them,
Then put it back together again,
And trust to luck you not maded contact with the face of the lcd plate,
Sorry to be nexative,
Like ED WILLIAMS said its time to replace it,
