You have a video card problem if your getting errors there. Easiest thing to do is borrow or get a really cheap card and test it out.

would that most likely be the cause of the short freezing when I close a program as well?

Have you replaced the video card recently or went from a CRT monitor to a LCD? If you had a CRT, then you have some old drivers lurking around that could be causing a problem

Also earlier versions of ATI drivers 7.x have caused problems.

Latest drivers HERE

When you installed the additional memory did this freezing start????

I haven't replaced it yet, I did order a new one that I should be getting in about a day. I have always used a VGA connection to LCD monitor since the day I made it. I will try updating the driver and see what that does I didn't even think about that.

As for the RAM, when I first purchased it I didn't relize that the one I already had in the computer was only single channel and I tried running the dual channels with it. It was causing some problems with lag on steaming videos and music on itunes had a little trouble, but once I took out the one single channel everything was fine . The short freezing when I close a program and the random reboots has only been happening for a little less than a month and I replaced the RAM about 4 months ago so I dont think that has anything to do with it. I did however go ahead and purchase 2 more 1gb stick of the same RAM when I got the video card because it was cheap and I was like "why not"

New Card

I have installed the new video card and since then the computer hasn't done its random reboot. It does however still freeze for a few seconds when I close a program.

ATI is really fussy about drivers, if you didn't you need to completely uninstall the old drivers and boot just using VGA. Then install the new ones.

I troubleshooted the RAM just in case, and used the old one I had. But the freezing problem still happened with the old one as well.
