Windows Update Checks Forever
I just reinstalled Windows 7 and now when I run Windows Update it stays on "Checking for updates..." forever (3.5 hours at least).
The only thing I remember doing out of sync was installing the WLAN driver later. Thanks, Matt |

It's nothing you did Matt. Ever since MS came out with Windows 10 everybody who has Windows 7 is having problems. If you have Windows 7 SP1 there's a Windows 7 update rollup that is supposed to be better, and will take less time to install. It contains the updates after SP1, but you have to install SP1 first.

try running SURT (System Update Readiness Tool) and SFC Fix.
