Change Name from Administrator to Mine

Hi:
Using XP Pro and want to change the name of the administrator account to display my own name vs "Administrator" without creating any further accounts. Is this possible without re-installing windows XP? Thanks for any help.

If you goto Control Panel>User Accounts>
Then you can change the Display Name of your account.

Under Windows XP Pro, you can't change the Administrator name from the User Acounts area.

Instead, go
• Start.> Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Computer Management.

• In the console tree, click Local Users and Groups, and then click Users.

• In the details pane, right-click Administrator, and then click Rename User. Enter a new name for the account.

• After changing the name, log off and then log back on.

Hope that helps!

Admin Acct In WinXPHome

Will this work for Windows XP Home also ? I have an administrater acct that only shows up in safe mode and also my personal admin acct that I use all the time. I would like to just rename the owner/administrater acct and eliminate all others.

You are better off to leave the default Administrators account alone.

If you delete all other accounts and use the default Administrators account then have account corruption/problems you have no where to go.
