Change Name from Administrator to Mine
Hi:
Using XP Pro and want to change the name of the administrator account to display my own name vs "Administrator" without creating any further accounts. Is this possible without re-installing windows XP? Thanks for any help. Gus: |

If you goto Control Panel>User Accounts>
Then you can change the Display Name of your account. |

Under Windows XP Pro, you can't change the Administrator name from the User Acounts area.
Instead, go • Start.> Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Computer Management. • In the console tree, click Local Users and Groups, and then click Users. • In the details pane, right-click Administrator, and then click Rename User. Enter a new name for the account. • After changing the name, log off and then log back on. Hope that helps! |

You are better off to leave the default Administrators account alone.
If you delete all other accounts and use the default Administrators account then have account corruption/problems you have no where to go. |
