Outlook Express HELP

I formatted my PC and I lost TONS of very important emails that I'd saved in OE. Is it possible my server somehow has record of them or a backup I can download? I'm not sure how sendmail works but I thought maybe it would have a restore feature of some sort. Does anyone know how I can get these messages back?

When you say server do you mean your ISP Mail Server or a home network server?

If it's an ISP Mail Server then usually if you use POP3 the mail is moved from the server to your PC.
Where as with IMAP the mail is stored on the server and viewed from your PC.

My webmail is checked through my Outlook express.
The server I host my website on is what I'm speaking of.

Is it POP3, IMAP or HTTP?

Can you access your Mail through a web browser.
Your mail may still be stored there.

The system my web mail uses is that the mail is stored on the server until it is downloaded to the PC. After that the mail is no longer available on the server.

you could contact the admin to see if they have a backup of your mail. that's about it.

If you've activated the "Leave a copy of messages on server" option, under Tools>Accounts>Mail>Properties, your server would save a copy of your mail. You could try to download your mail from your server.

Thank you. I guess I won't be able to recover the messages I've already lost because apparently my host doesn't back up individuals messages, but just accounts. At least I know now so I won't loose them again.

Thanks Again!
