After XP Re-intall, major problems

My computer had some issues, like some missing files and such, so I decided to use the CD the computer manufacturer gave us, which allowed to restor XP data without reformatting the whole HD.

But now, my computer's having some problems.

One, it hangs at "Starting up Windows..." and after pushing the power button a few times it jumps back.

It's also very slow signing in.

The taskbar has disappeared, i only managed to start firefox through task manager.

Also, the Automatic Updates program won't load (An error due to rundll32).

Some drivers are missing as well, such as my printer driver and audio drivers

I cannot copy/cut/paste files, nor can i download them into my personal folders

What can i do?

Run a chkdsk /r from the Recovery console. Boot the XP cd, and at the first screen press R to enter recovery console. Select 1 for your windows installation, if it asks for an administrator password, Just press enter. Then you should be free to type commands, So type the chkdsk /r

What options does it give you when you boot it up?

iirc, a "Non-harmful" install (No reformat) and a Complete install (Reformat HD)

I also found out some more things:

I have lost my audio drivers as well as my print drivers

I cannot copy/cut/paste files, and i cannot download files into my personal folders anymore

Drivers are easily downloadable from the manufacturers website.

To sort out all your issues, I would recommend you back up your data and do the Complete install.

It's going to be painful, since i have no place to back it up to, and also i'll have to dig out drivers for the hardware...

...but i thought of that as the last possible solution D:

Hmm, Actually just came to me that you can try the disk check within windows by just right clicking the C: drive in My Computer, Then click properties > Tools > error checking. Tick both boxes, Click ok to have it set next boot up. Then let it run.

Should fix any errors and recover any bad sectors on your HDD which may be cause of problems.

For the drivers, you need to know the model name and number of the hardware. Go to the manufacturers website, And under support it will have the drivers for the hardware.
Branded PC, Just go to the PC's manufacturers website and put in the model number and it should come up with some downloads. You haven't stated your computers model number or any info.
