Baradla-Domica Cave complex is 21 km (13 mi) long with approximately one fourth of that on the Slovak side and the rest in the Hungary. The first written mention of Baradla cave dates back to 1549 and from 1920 it serves as a tourist attraction. Jn Majko discovered Domica Cave (Slovak part of the complex) in 1926 and the tourist circuit opened to public in 1932 has more than 1,700 metres (5,600 ft). Cave was inhabited as far as 5000 BC and is an important archeological site of Bkk Culture. Temperature in the Slovak part varies between 10 and 12.3 C (50.0 and 54.1 F) with a humidity above 95%. see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Caves_...d_Slovak_Karst
When I was there they had an iron grill at the border to stop people entering the cave on one side of the border and emerging on the other side.

Talking of caves which are underground, I've also been down a few mines.

One notable one was the Wielicczka Salt mine in Poland.

The miners carved great caverns from the rock salt, often with carved sculptures of various figures surrounding them. This started hundreds of years ago,
in modern times electric lights have been added and the mines turned into tourist attractions, as you can see in the above picture.
Read about this salt mine: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wieliczka_Salt_Mine

Anyone else been down a mine?

I went to Ruby Falls when I was a young kid. Underground cave system in Tennessee, USA. Good photos here: https://www.rubyfalls.com/gallery/entry/cave-and-falls

Went into a few abandoned mines in the South West desert. Pretty scary, which is probably why they had the "Danger" and "Do not enter" signs posted

Although this is Flaming the topic, Ruby Falls was the coolest place I've ever been to In My Life. You and a crowd of other people take elevators down into the cave. As a group you walk along, and you can hear the roaring waterfall in front of you. Then they turn off the lights. And the whole crowd stumbles along in the Darkness. Right when it feels like you're going to fall into the waterfall they turn on the colorful lights. Red and blue and yellow and orange all glowing and reflecting off the waterfall. And they have servos with little hammers hitting stalactites, making a wonderful organ-like sound.

Not flaming at all, adding information, which is great.

Years ago I went to the Te Anau Caves, South Island, NZ. Travelled across Lake Te Anau by boat then entered the cave in almost total darkness walked thru the cave system on constructed paths. Boarded some small boats which were paddled further into the caves. The small lights were then turned out and the whole place lit up with the roof of the cave covered in Glowworms.
see https://www.newzealand.com/au/plan/b...real-journeys/

This photo does not do the place justice, it is truly marvelous. My 4 year-old son (at the time, he's almost 53 now) called out,
to the amusement of all present, the is the most amazing thing I've seen in my whole life.
