I was quite unwell with a high temperature 2 weeks ago. I isolated and had a covid test, which turned out to be negative, but continued to isolate, as advised, just in case it was a false negative. But all OK now.

How is everyone else?

Also had both shots last month. Everything around here (mediumish sized town) is pretty much back to "normal". Stores and restaurants back open, few masks in sight anywhere, etc. Kids 12 and up are being vaccinated. Aside from the national news, Covid isn't talked about much anymore. People are back to complaining about 1st world issues, discussing the Tour and Olympic hopefuls, etc.

Heard about another lockdown in Oz. Hope you stay safe.

Yes, a limo driver in Sydney who wasn't vaccinated, caught the Delta strain of covid from air crew he was transporting to quarantine. He then spread it to others in Sydney, hence the lockdown there. One who caught it was a fly-in miner who works in a remote mine in the Northern Territory. Some hundreds of miners who work there and live all over Australia have caused lockdowns in other places, while contacts are traced and tested.

One interesting fact to emerge was that one infected person attended a birthday party with 30 guests, 24 who were not vaccinated all caught covid while the 6 who were vaccinated did not.

The simple message from this is, get vaccinated. see https://www.abc.net.au/news/2021-06-...d-19/100249612

Unfortunately the NSW premier acted to late to contain the outbreak to Sydney with it spreading all over the state. Thousands have now been infected with a number of deaths. The whole state is now in lock-down.

The authorities in the other states have closed the borders to NSW and instigated short sharp lock-downs to contain the virus where it had jumped the border, this seems to have worked.

The federal government, who also did too little too late, have now acquired additional vaccine supplies for use in Sydney, the worst affected city. These arrived yesterday and the jabs have started today.

Hi All,
Sadly the Delta variant has "jumped the ditch" from New South Wales to New Zealand so we are back in hard lock-down in the hope of once again containing it even though the virus spreads more rapidly than the previous ones. The world news thought we were over re-acting when Jacinda locked us down on one case, However that case is now 30+.
I am hoping to get my first vaccine today (Sat 21 Aug) Good luck everyone....

Good for you. (I felt a bit seedy the next day, but otherwise OK)

That one covid delta case in NSW back in June has spread all over Australia and over to NZ. NSW and Vic are both in total lock-down (unfortunately some protestors are breaking the rules, but collecting $5,000 fines, when caught) with over 10,000 cases in NSW and a number of deaths. The other States have all had quick short lock-downs and seem to have nipped the virus in the bud. Although the Chief Medical officer here in Qld said she expects the virus to eventually jump the locked border with NSW with an infected essential worker who has a false negative test, but in actual fact is positive.

just got the second shot yesterday at the local Walmart. Surprised the arm does not hurt as much as the first shot - so far. A few aches but not sure if it is because of the shot or other issues.

Still plan on wearing a mask when in crowds. the virus is hitting the little town I live in right now pretty hard.`

That was like for the Missus and me. We both had a sore arm for a few days after the first shot, but no pain at all after the second shot.

OK I am fully vaccinated along with about 33% of our population. Almost 63% of us have had one jab so far. Hoping we can get into the high 90's with fully immunized people ov the age of 12..
