Bsod :(

I am running Windows 7 and off and on get two different BSOD errors.
The STOP numbers are

STOP:0x24
and
STOP:0x1A

I copied an error report and it says:

Problem signature:
Problem Event Name: BlueScreen
OS Version: 6.1.7600.2.3.0.256.1
Locale ID: 1033

Additional information about the problem:
BCCode: 116
BCP1: FFFFFA80076684E0
BCP2: FFFFF8800481C7F8
BCP3: 0000000000000000
BCP4: 0000000000000002
OS Version: 6_1_7600
Service Pack: 3_0
Product: 256_1

Files that help describe the problem:
C:\Windows\Minidump\063010-30295-01.dmp
C:\Users\xxxx\AppData\Local\Temp\WER-89560-0.sysdata.xml

anyone know where I would start to fix this issue? I was told that it is possibly a hardware issue. A while ago I had issues with my RAM timings had a DRAM:FSB Ratio of 12:6 but is now 1:1. When it was 12:6 the issue was more common but I figured out the right tune for my timings. My current setup is

MOBO: Asus M3A78-EM
CPU: AMD Phenom II x4 940 Black Edition Deneb
RAM: Mushkin Enhanced Blackline 2GB 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 1066 (PC2 8500) Desktop Memory Model 991599 x4 (8gb total)
HDD: Western Digital Caviar Black WD5001AALS 500GB 7200 RPM x2 (1TB)
GFX: Asus EAH 4870 Matrix 512
Sound: Creative PCI Express Sound Blaster X-Fi Titanium Fatal1ty Champion Series
PSU: Apevia Warlock 900w

I got the CPU clock at 3000MHz
the multiplier at 15x
HTT clock at 200 MHz
and the HTT speed at 2600 MHz
the memory is ganged dual channel ddr2 400 running at 4-4-4-12
with a memory clock of 201 MHz

at first it seemed to only crash during gameplay, flickering screen and freezing video from which it only recovered to return to play about 25% of the time, however, it does freeze and BSOD during desktop use such as moving files from one place to another and opening files sometimes causes it to freeze. For a while i thought it was the GFX and i checked up on it looking for common issues and there were issues with the drivers however those dont seem to be as bad. Now during gameplay the screen will sometimes flicker and freeze momentarily, but recover in a few seconds to continue play as if nothing happened. As far as video driver i am not using the Asus Itracker 2 in stead of the Catalyst control center as that seemed to make it crash more.

thats about all the information that I can provide as far as what i know as being relevant to the situation and any help would be GREATLY appreciated.

24 is your partition reading the NTFS file system. It is most likely corrupted.
A chkdsk /r can sometimes bring that back from corruption if it is only the NTFS data corrupted and not the partition itself.

12 is memory management and it is most likely related to your alterations of the RAM timings in the BIOS.

ran chkdsk /r
ran mem test both ran without errors.
should i be running ganged or unganged? are there some other timings i should try/tweak?

possibly tweak the HTT speed? should i increase voltages? could this be registry errors?

i found i can run a stability test and no crashes.

You can try renaming win32k.sys to win32k.sys.old and a new one will replace the missing one.

I'd stay away from any overclocking of your RAM modules. All these errors your getting are memory related.
The RAM test only tests the state of the modules. It's most likely the overclocking causing the memory errors.
Those memory errors can also corrupt your O/S and your bitmap on the drive.

You need to right-click the file and select Properties.
Security(tab)
Advanced(button)
Owner(tab)
Edit...(button)
click on your user name and click Apply(button)

It sets all BIOS settings to the state when the motherboard was shipped. Simply, it puts the BIOS in a state
where it is bound to function without issues from custom settings created by the user.

Leave them as is.

Modern RAM bus (banks) and modern RAM is quite rapid. There is no need to tweak voltages and clocks.
Tweaking always creates more heat and heated components run slower and produce and unstable system.

Gamers are usually the ones keen on stepping up RAM settings. They seek the all illustrious "FPS".
Winding things up (tweaking) just creates more heat and if one truly wants to chase best "FPS"
and overall best performance out of a system then it is not the BIOS in which one wants to play, it's in cooling.

Water cooling has its place but compressor cooling is where the pinnacle of cooling is today.
Compressor coolers offer cooling for RAM modules, CPU, North and South bridges.

Compressor cooled CPUs can run at 4ºC...yes 4ºC. At 4ºC the speed of CPUs and RAM can properly be
tweaked in the BIOS. The clocks and timing can now be raised without the back-effect of heat.
This produces some of the fastest calculating possible with a modern system.

Basically if you're not prepared to cool then don't tweak.

mmk, its running good so far i was actually wondering if i should actually slow down my timings? or are they good at the settings they're at? I also gots lots of cooling, several fans, good convection i got the articcooler freezer on my cpu and an 80 mm fan over the ram, like 4 fans under my gfx and 1 on the heatsing for gfx. 1 on hdd and 1 exhaust behind the cpu

I would leave the BIOS as it is, other than making sure "Plug n' Play OS" is "Yes" and any other obvious
things like disabling floppys and making sure the boot order is the way you like it.
  1. I'd run another chdsk /r on the drive
  2. reboot
  3. run a defragment
  4. reboot twice
  5. shutdown and give the cooler/heatsync a good blast of air
  6. brush all fan blades with a small brush
  7. vacuum out the tower

would perhaps the system run better with 6gb ram instead of 8?
