Question USB mouse problem

Hi everyone.
I'm having a problem getting my new USB mouse to work.
I have Windows xp home sp3 and my motherboard is a Gigabyte m61vme-s2.
The mouse is a Gigabyte gm6800.
I have tried putting it in different ports and re-booting but no luck.
When I plug the mouse in,Windows says "new hardware detected" and "device is ready to use",but the pointer still doesn't work (the red light underneath is on,but the pointer will not move.
My old USB mouse still works.
When I try the new mouse in another pc it works fine.
Can anyone help me?

That is a GM-M6800 model.

Download Gigabyte's driver for the GM-M6800 gaming mouse for Windows XP 32bit here.

Some more info on what happens when I unzip the driver folder and click setup.
The installer opens then I get this message-
Could not open c\docume\chimp\locals1\temp\temporary directory1 for peripherals-driver-mouse-m6800.zip\driver\win2k-xp-vista\whmice2k.sys.

Perhaps it's time for a BIOS flash.

1) - What date is your BIOS and what version is it?
For the date...
In a Command Prompt and type
debug then hit enter
then type D FFFF:5L8 then hit enter
what is the date on the far right?
type Q then hit enter
type exit then hit enter

2) - For the version reboot and get into the BIOS for the version.

3) - Also Gigabyte GA-M61VME-S2 comes in two types
GA-M61VME-S2 (rev. 2.0)
GA-M61VME-S2 (rev. 1.0)
You can either find the revision number on the edge of the motherboard itself or run Everest.
A link to Everest is in my signature below.

4) - Also speaking of signatures, yours says your Windows XP is "SP2" and your post says your Windows "SP3".
You want to make sure you have all Windows XP important updates. There were some radical changes to the USB going to SP3.

Okay the Bios is Award modular v6.00pg
System bios date 9/18/06
Video bios 4/27/07
The motherboard is revision S2 F4.
And finally the signature is simply out of date and I'm running sp3.
Hope this helps.
