Exclamation Ethernet network card not showing up

A storm blew in a few nights ago and knocked out the power. When I woke up the next morning I noticed that it said my network cord was unpugged, but it wasent. I tried new cords, but I guess that wasnt the problem.

My computer works fine except for the network, I suppose. So I bought a new network card, but it wont show up on my computer so I cant install the drivers.

Does anyone know what is going on? I really hope the power outage didnt fry my motherboard. T.T

Help please,
Deadra

Was the original a card or was it on the motherboard? If a card, did you remove the bad card and replacing it, did you install the new one in a different slot? Sometimes, that lightning can take out the slot a card is plugged into also.

The new network card finally showed up but its still isnt lighting up. I probably need to make a new network connection to the computer that has the internet?

I don't know why you would need to make a new connection if the previous connection is still the same as what you have/need now. But it won't hurt to try that.

What is it connected to ? Maybe the problem is not on your computer's end?

Niether computers have a lit up network card. I tried using a different cord, but that doesent seem to be the problem either. It could be the host computer, I suppose. But even though it isnt connecting, will the "Link" light still light up saying its plugged in?

I just tested it on mine, And it doesn't light up when a cable is plugged in. Only when it's enabled - the connection between the 2 is active, or when there is activity between the 2.

Mine have 2 lights, 1 For connection (if it's connected, enabled and connection is 'online') and the other blinks at the activity.
