scan disk and defragging
i put in a hard drive and fdisk and reformatted and reinstalled windows and everything went well except i am unable to defrag and scan disk it keeps restarting them over and over and finally tells me windows is unable to do either because program is running with another program but i dont know what it means and i really would like to do both plz help thank you

Welcome to CTH-

Ctrl+Alt+Del, End all but Explorer and Systray. Try running it then. If still no joy, run it in safe mode. Win ME is notorious for it's defrag and scandisk issues.
