c drive icon gone
My local drive (C) does not have the icon. It shows a piece of paper with a window screen on it. I tired right-clicking and going to properties but there is no option to replace the icon there.
I read some where that TweakUIPowertoy might help but it wouldnt let me install it. It tells me that it is not a valid win32 application. Also when I double click the (c) drive, it searches the c drive instead of opening it. How do I set it to open when I double click. I also wanted to say thanks to MODs and other people for their help thus far. Everyone is friendly and willing to help. The response time is great too. This is really a great place to get help. |

Download HijackThis from HERE
Choose "open".... It will auto install to C:\Program Files for you, just click on the "Unzip" button. Open HijackThis.exe. Click the "Scan" button........the Scan button will change to a "Save Log" button. Save the log and copy / paste the log into your next reply to the Cyber Safety Forum. Someone will then advise you on what to remove if anything. ![]() |

It came up with 11 virus and deleted 27 files. That is weird because I run Norton all the time and it didnt find them. I did what you told me but got an effor on: O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [] |8|2||| It said Error 52(Bad File Name or number) in sub getlongpath. I can open my c drive but I just have to right click and go to open. The first option is seach. Its just anoying to have to do that instead of just clicking it. Plus my icon is gone. |

Ok, your log looks fine now anyway. Have a look in your C: directory for a file called autorun.inf. If you find it delete it, reboot and let us know if this helped.

I did it and my c drive icon is back now (thank you) but I still have the clicking problem. When I click it, it will open a window to search my c drive instead of opening it to show me everything inside. If I want to open it I have to right click and go to open (search is listed first, than open, than browse with paint shop pro 8 but I dont have have that program anymore). It does this with all my drives. I think it might have something to do with the click option that is set on the drives.

Try this. Go to Start > Run and type:
regsvr32 /i shell32.dll and ok. Reboot and see let us know if this fixed it. |

I tried Irfanview and it doenst work well with what I do. I use paint mainly to resize, change colors, and create solid color shapes. Irfanview seems to be more of a view type program while paint is more of an edit type program.
In short yes. I would like to get paint working right again. I have the program but my pictures will no open with it. When I go to open with paint doesnt show up under the program list. I accidently removed acessories under control panel windows componets. |
