Anybody use Minitube. Any tips and tricks
As Flashplayer uses a lot of resources and may be a contributing factor in Firefoxs woes.
So if you have used Minitube tell us what you think of it? |

Hi Craisin,
Your quote from the Firefox woes thread. there is an alternative to Flashplayer its called Minitube it uses less CPU and is said to run smoother and is available on Ubuntu from the software center. Would it not be better for you to have had some experience with this before stating its benefits ??? I have not used Mini-tube and probably will not in the short term as I have Firefox and dwhelper working quite nicely together at this time. |

So I was hoping to get to grips with Minitube on one of my Ubuntu computers and then install it on a lady friends Windows computer.
My friend has many Windows computers and 5 kids And they have been having problems with Firefox so they are using IE by their own choice |

Ok.
So if a plug-in is missing, What is it? Find out, then install. Maybe your problem will be solved.. |

Try to do this:
<code> sudo apt-get install libqt4-network phonon-backend-gstreamer gstreamer0.10-ffmpeg gstreamer0.10-plugins-bad <end code> So you type from sudo to bad. You may find that it will work, but........... I HAVE NOT TRIED THIS.... ![]() |

Right a bit off topic but I have found that instead of talking my new systems to You Tube and installing the plugin to use flashplayer its better to come to Cybertech and install plug in that gets that lady in red to display up there.
I have had some bad experiences from getting the plug in from clicking on the link at You Tube. Anyway it works for me but I dont know why ![]() |

Hi Craisin,
Not actually sure where you are heading with this but if you want results just get the Firefox extension download helper... Problem solved... Why worry about CPU use? It is only an electrical impulse or so... ![]() |

Gday.
I found these coments on :- http://lifehacker.com/5428618/minitu...-mac-and-linux Mac/Linux: If you can't get Flash working right, or just like a Flash-free viewing experience, Minitube is a full-fledged desktop client that searches and plays YouTube videos, in HD when available, in a very minimal, sleek interface. Minitube isn't a complicated app. There's a search bar when you first start it up, a list of results on the left, and a video window on the right. You can toggle HD viewing on and off, switch to full-screen mode for longer clips, and scan through the video—or open the YouTube page, if you need more context. That's about it, but if you're looking for a way to check out YouTube clips outside the browser, it's a really elegant solution. Minitube is a free download for Mac and Linux systems. I don't know if that helps at all? |
