Welcome to CTH suneede. Try the fix here for Help and Support. Reboot afterwards and let us know if it helped. If not could you please post any error messages and symptoms. Same for your Search issues. Are you getting an error message?

For the search issue in XP, try this fix.
If that doesn't work, click Start > Run, then type: %systemroot%\inf and then click OK. Find the Srchasst.inf file, right-click it and select Install.
