When starting in Zorin 8 there is a error message "Could not apply the store configuration for monitors.
Error line 1 char 1: Documents must begin with an element (eg < book >) .
First I don't understand the message also I want to know how to correct same.

could be Zorin dont recognise your monitor eg the brand of monitor.

Have you tried unplugging the monitor from the wall and replugging it in again
like disconnect the power and press the power button on the monitor while the power is off

I curerntly have Zorin 8.1 (1-32bit & 1-64bit).
The 64bit is on dvd and boots fine.

The 32bit is on a 8gb-usb-stick. This one is the problem.
I put it on yesterday, with 2gb reserved for installs.

I booted it yesterday several times. The 1st boot I connected it to the (wireless) internet.
I booted and used it 2 more times. Both times everything went fine.
I finished for the day. Turned it off. With the usb-stick left plugged in.
This morning I turned the laptop on. Everything went fine to the 'select boot options'.
I let it select its own boot. It booted as far as showing the 'Z' icon. Then moved on to a black screen (alive but black). Then froze.
I rebooted several times using 'default' and the other options. The same thing happened every time.
I did all this using a dual-boot Linux-Windows HD laptop.

I tried it on a different (Windows 7 only) laptop. This time it went to the boot-selection, then went to a black screen (alive but black) and froze again.
After trying it a few times. I gave up, took the usb-stick out and rebooted the windows 7 laptop into windows 7.
This time Windows came up and told me that the boot system is faulty and needed repairing.
Twice I tried and twice it tried, but couldn't automaticaly fix it.
I reset the boot to HD 1st. and still got the same result. I have left it trying to automaticaly fix the boot-system while I type this.

It looks as though I will have to use my win7 cd to repair the boot. Or completely re-install Win 7.

I did install zorin 8.1 along-side win7.
It worked fine for 2 days. Then I put Firefox in. Leaving Google as default.
Neither Firefox or Google would work. Even LibreOffice and 'Software Manager' wouldn't start.

So I burned it out and put Mint 16 back in.

Unless someone can tell me what is happening I am rather nervous about Zorin 8.1.

I hope what I have described is clear.

Oh. The win7 laptop has just said that it can't do an automatic repair.
So I will have to do a manual one.

B****r................

I just looked at a ReactOS 0.3.16 in VirtualBox.
If I had to choose between Zorin 8.1 and Reactos 0.3.16 (alfa release).
Even if it crashes in this early development. A Windows user can at least install Windows software.
