Caught in between Win 10 Upgrade

Got my sisters Samsung NP540U3C laptop and Microsoft secretly upgraded Win 10 with out her express consent and her Quick books would not run, so she asked me to fix it and I went in and did the downgrade back to Win 8 that came with. Win 10 had upgraded her video driver and (my theory) when I downgraded it, something went wrong and all I get is a grey screen. I can also see a mouse cursor.

I ordered her recovery disk but I can't find anywhere where I can go into the BIOS (Don't know the keys to push - DELETE or F1 or whtever) and switch the Boot Drive to a USB dvd player. I hate their user manual, there is nothing in it ti explain what to do when things go wrong. I don't even see any license key on the bottom of her laptop (she bought it at Best Buy a couple of years ago).

Need a bit of help just to get things back to usable.

Rich

I put it in the message, It is a Samsung NP540U3C-A01UB, I chatted with support and they gave me a link, but it was for a different model and he said use F2 ti get in the BIOS, but I tried and still don't see anything but the mouse cursor. I feel bad, I screwed up her computer and now I can't even do a basic reset

Also try hitting F2 several times instead of just once.

This WAS my issue - the video driver was borked, and I couldn't see anything other than the mouse cursor. I decided to plug an external DVD drive in and try to do a recover to factory action. I still could not see the BIOS even when I hit the F2 button, I then disconnected the HDD and only then could I see the BIOS. I decided to cut to the chase and formatted the drive in my computer and then replaced the HDD into the laptop. I had already saved her information so I figured no reason to waste time and energy, and I then proceeded to hit F2 again an this time I could see the menu to recover to factory settings. After that, it was just standard procedure. It was all in the screwed up video driver and I was surprised that I could not see the BIOS until I pulled the HDD. So - case closed, and thank you for your assistance
