Hard Drive runs continuously

Howdy, I have a Dell Dimension 4700C with a 160G hardrive and 2 gigs of RAM. For the past couple of days my hard drive runs all of the time???
Where do I find "task manager" on my computer?

Thanks much if you can help me......

Here are three ways:

1. Press ctrl alt del keys together

2. Right-click on an empty place on the Taskbar and select 'Task Manager' from the box that pops up

3. Click on Start > Run > and type taskmgr where it says 'Open' in the box that pops up in the bottom left of your screen
