Unhappy Generic Host Process for Win32 Services has encountered a problem and needs to close

When i start my computer up i get the below error message

"Generic Host Process for Win32 Services has encountered a problem and needs to close"

The error signature within the report is

szAppName : svchost.exe szAppVer : 5.1.2600.2180 szModName : ntdll.dll
szModVer : 5.1.2600.2180 offset : 00018fea

And within the report these files are kept

C:\WINDOWS\TEMP\WER6e5a.dir00\svchost.exe.mdmp
C:\WINDOWS\TEMP\WER6e5a.dir00\appcompat.txt

This error seems very strange as it freezes my computer for about 30 seconds, after that, for some strange reason my computer recovers, however my startbar (thing at the bottom) turns to the '98 operating system bar (grey) yet the bars on the top are still blue, also, with this error my computer then thinks it does not have a sound card, meaning that i cannot play games etc, yet i can hear sound if played

ive searched around and alot of people think this is a norton antivirus problem, but i dont have norton antivirus and never had, so it cant be, ive scanned my pc with Avast, and Windows Defender, and they both have not picked up anything.

Also this is the error when i try to open the mixer for my speakers

The Audio Device Supported by this application is not detected.Application will exit. This error shows only once the Generic host has crashed,

Does anyone have a solution to this?

i mean i know my computers, but this ones left me in a sticky confusion
